The Calexico Fire Department is well trained and equipped to respond to any adverse event that may occur in the city. If needed the department maintains a significant emergency response resource directory and maintains mutual aid agreements with other governmental agencies in order to gain access to specialized equipment and resources.

The Fire Department provides fire suppression, rescue, emergency medical response, fire prevention and education.

The City of Calexico Fire Chief reports to the City Manager. Along with the fire management team consisting of one Fire Prevention Officer, and one administrative assistant, they collectively provide administrative and operational control of the department. The Administrative Services section of the department is responsible for fiscal matters, fire prevention and disaster preparedness. Fire Administration is conveniently located at Fire Department Headquarters.
