NOTICE OF MEASURE TO BE VOTED ON

 

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a measure to be voted on, Measure “___” – a Special Transactions and Use (Sales) Tax (“Measure”), will be submitted to the voters of the City of Calexico at the General Municipal Election to be held on November 3, 2026, as follows:

 

Synopsis of the Measure

 

“CITY OF CALEXICO PUBLIC SAFETY SALES TAX.

Shall the measure to maintain and enhance public safety services in the City of Calexico, including police protection, fire suppression, emergency medical response, disaster preparedness and related operations, by levying a special sales tax initially at ½%, adjusting to 1% on October 1, 2030, for 20 years providing approximately $4,000,000 annually (at 1/2%) and $8,000,000 annually (at 1%), subject to annual audits, public reporting, citizens’ committee oversight, with all funds in Calexico, be adopted?”

 

The Measure requires the approval of two-thirds (2/3) of Calexico voters voting on the Measure to pass.

 

NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN by the City Clerk, that pursuant to the California Elections Code, that the following deadlines are hereby established as the final dates on which arguments and rebuttal arguments for and against the Measure appearing on the ballot may be submitted to the City Clerk for printing and distribution to the voters as required by law:

 

Deadline for Filing Direct Arguments:  5:00 p.m., Monday, July 27, 2026

Deadline for Filing Rebuttal Arguments:  5:00 p.m., Thursday, August 6, 2026

 

Primary Arguments, not to exceed 300 words in length, and Rebuttal Arguments, not to exceed 250 words in length, are to be submitted to the City Clerk, located at 608 Heber Avenue, Calexico, CA on or before the respective deadlines.  Submitted arguments and rebuttals are kept confidential until after the filing deadline. Arguments and rebuttals cannot be withdrawn or changed after the deadline.
