2024 General Municipal Election

 

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a General Municipal Election will be held in the City of Calexico on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 for the following Officers:

 

 For (3) Members of the City Council                                       (Full term of four (4) years)

 

 For (2) Members of the City Council                                       (Short term of two (2) years)

 

The nomination period for these offices begins on Monday, July 15, 2024 and closes Friday, August 9, 2024 at 12:00 p.m.

 

If nomination papers for an incumbent officer of the city are not filed by August 9, 2024 (the 88th day before the election), the voters shall have until the 83rd day before the election, Wednesday, August 14, 2024, to nominate candidates other than the person(s) who are the incumbents on the 88th day before the election, for that incumbent’s elective office. This extension is not applicable where there is no incumbent eligible to be elected.

 

If no one or only one person is nominated for an elective office, appointment to the elective office may be made as prescribed by § 10229, Elections Code of the State of California.

Official Nomination Documents for qualified persons desiring to file for these offices are available from the Calexico City Clerk's office, 608 Heber Avenue, Calexico, CA beginning on Monday, July 15, 2024.  Please call 760-768-2102 to set an appointment to pick up nomination documents.

 

The vote center locations and hours of operations, ballot drop box locations and hours of operations, vote-by-mail procedures and timing, the election officers, and all other persons and procedures for the General Municipal Election shall be the same as those utilized by the County of Imperial and in compliance with the Elections Code of the State of California.  On election day, the polls will be open between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.
