Welcome to the Office of the City Clerk. 
 
The City Clerk is appointed by the City Manager with City Council approval.  The City Clerk serves as the local compliance officer for federal, state, and local statutes including the Political Reform Act, the Brown Act, and the California Public Records Act

The City Clerk, as the Official Custodian of Records for the City of Calexico, will receive and respond to public requests for records under the California Public Records Act, administer the City’s records management system, oversee authorized destruction of records to ensure effective distribution, processing and retention of records. The City Clerk maintains and protects all vital, permanent and historic records of the city.

The City Clerk prepares agendas and support material for the Calexico City Council/Calexico Redevelopment Successor Agency/Calexico Financing Authority meetings.  Attends all City Council meetings, takes minutes, records and preserves the legislative actions of the City Council of Calexico, including Ordinances, Resolutions and Minutes. Issues resolutions and prepares ordinances for publication and codification.

The City of Calexico consolidates with the Imperial County Registrar of Voters Office for all municipal elections. The City Clerk serves as the elections official and is responsible for all candidates' filings, the issuance and acceptance of nomination papers, City measures and publication of all legal notices as well as campaign and Statements of Economic Interest (Form 700) filings required by the Fair Political Practices Commission.

The City Clerk administers the Oath of Office to elected officials, employees, commissioners, board and committees members and attests and seals official documents for City Council and City Manager.

The City Clerk facilitates the recruitment and appointments process to City Commissions, Boards and Committees.
