Code Enforcement

Calexico Code Enforcement is responsible for ensuring compliance with city codes and ordinances to maintain public health, safety, and community standards. The department investigates complaints and proactively inspects properties for violations related to zoning, building standards, property maintenance, illegal dumping, inoperative vehicles, and other nuisances. By working with residents, businesses, and property owners, Code Enforcement seeks to address issues through education, notices, and, when necessary, citations or legal action. The goal is to preserve property values, enhance neighborhood livability, and support the overall quality of life in Calexico.

CITY OF CALEXICO  POLICE DEPARTMENT

Public Announcement

It is with deep sadness that the Calexico Police Department announces the passing of former Police Commissioner Daniel Gutierrez, who passed away on February 2.

Mr. Gutierrez faithfully served the City of Calexico as a Police Commissioner for 24 years, from 1989 to 2013. A retired employee of the City of Calexico, he continued his commitment to public service by selflessly volunteering his time as a Police Commissioner, providing guidance, oversight, and unwavering support to the Calexico Police Department.

Beyond his service to the City, Mr. Gutierrez was deeply devoted to his community. He was a familiar and beloved presence in the Kennedy Gardens neighborhood, where he took great pride in caring for his surroundings. He was often seen in the early morning hours tending to and watering the park that proudly bears his name. Mr. Gutierrez was also a passionate advocate for the sport of soccer, recognizing its importance in bringing youth and families together.

Mr. Gutierrez’s legacy is one of humility, service, and genuine care for the people of Calexico. His contributions to public safety, education, and community life will not be forgotten.

On behalf of the Calexico Police Department, we extend our deepest condolences to the Gutierrez family, his friends, and all those whose lives he touched.

Respectfully,

Chief Armando Orozco
